The support service Lift grows from Polly, a charity dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of women and girls.
With over 30 years of experience designing operations and delivering compassionate support through helplines and face-to-face services, our team brings trusted expertise to every interaction.

Lift aspires to provide free, confidential, and comprehensive support to every woman and girl in the UK, addressing challenges from emotional well-being and mental health to family, safety, and personal empowerment.
Lift is addressing a crucial gap in crisis support services in the UK.
While there are various helplines for men, those with mental health issues, and specific health-related concerns, there is a noticeable lack of services specifically tailored for women and girls facing emotional or mental health crises, including suicidal thoughts.
Lift aims to bridge this gap by establishing a free and confidential support service offering webchat, email and voice calls, designed for women and girls aged 13 and over. Staffed by trained, professional, empathetic women, Lift will provide essential information, emotional support, and signposting to other services across the UK.
Lift is dedicated to advancing, preserving, protecting, and improving the mental health and emotional well-being of women and girls aged 13 and over in the UK who are experiencing emotional or psychological distress or are in crisis. Lift provides a lifeline for women and girls in emotional distress or crisis through its life saving support services.
Our service will be inclusive, accessible, and direct, designed for all women regardless of their financial status, position, power, race, or level of need. It will be caller led and judgement free.
Lift will be able to signpost to other agencies, covering the kinds of issues women and girls face and will be able to link women up to national and local women’s services, whether around mental health, physical wellbeing or personal safety.
Our policies are robust and transparent, ensuring appropriate safeguarding and maintaining ethical standards, with confidentiality only broken in extreme circumstances where there is imminent danger to the caller or others.
Lift is a place where women and girls can unburden themselves, find solace and strength, and receive the support they need to navigate through difficult times.
